Swedish M1896 Mauser Bayonet
Used on the 6.5mm M1896 Swedish Mauser rifle, the M1938 short rifle and the AG42B Ljungmann self loading rifle.
According to Per Holmback, approx 665,000 bayonets were manufactured(Info from worldbayonets.com).
Manufactured by Eskilstunna Jernmanufactur AB, Carl Gustafs Stads Gervärsfaktori (rifle factory of Carl Gustaf's town) and Eric Anton Berg (E.A.B) from Eskilstunna.
The use of unit markings on the bayonets ended in 1933, I for infantry and K for Cavalry. Any with these markings were produced from 1899-1933.
Eskilstunna Jernmanufactur AB from 1899-1933 produced 280,000 bayonets of which the first 10,000 had a 4 digit serial number. Early versions had a flat locking stud and were doubled edged. Around 1905 the design was changed to a conical stud and a single edged blade with a false edge on the other side.
The 4 digit serial number was changed to a 3 digit one which went to 999, once hit, the serial number started at 001.
Around 1913, Carl Gustaf's Stads Gervärsfaktori took over production.
My bayonet was made by Eskilstunna Jernmanufactur AB (EJ Anchor AB) with the serial number 337, however the scabbard was made Carl Gustaf (Crown C) with the serial number 666.
