Spanish CETME Model L Bayonet

A Knife bayonet used on the 5.56mm NATO CETME rifle.

The CETME rifle was a Spanish variant of the HK 33.

The Model L superseded the 7.62 NATO CETME Model C rifle beginning in 1986.The Model L was not well liked and was reported to have performed poorly in the 1990-91 Persian gulf War.

Post war attempts to reduce production costs exacerbated the rifle leading to the adoption of the HK G36 rifle in 1999.

The Model L bayonet blade is patterned after the US M4 bayonet, nut is 5.6cm longer than the more common HK G3 bayonet.

The scabbard is closely patterned after the Spanish M1964 (CETME Model C) scabbard.

The model L was produced by the state owned Santa Barbara systems factory, under auspices of the Instituto Nacional de Industria (INI) Which translates to the 'National Institute of industry.

Replaced in 1999 by the G36 Bayonet.

My Bayonet has the serial number ET34896A
